Number 5 – Greece
Greece has over 200 islands to pick from, so it’s no surprise that it slots in at number 5 in our top family destinations. Fantastic beaches, historic sights, relaxing tavernas, water parks, crazy golf and all away from the party hot spots of Mykonos and Malia. The vibe is most defiantly sun and family-friendly. If you’re a fan of ABBA, Mamma Mia was even filmed on one of the islands.
“We stayed on the island of Skopelos where they filmed Mamma Mia. We took a tour of the film locations, which were amazing, my girls absolutely loved it. A boat trip to neighbouring islands and seeing dolphins was great! The island itself is such good value for money and so relaxing, the beaches are fantastic with crystal clear water. Highly recommend it, even if you aren’t a fan of ABBA (which I am not!)” –Toby, Marketing Manager
Number 4 – Cornwall
With its quaint harbour towns, local fresh seafood and pasties, along with its stunning beaches, Cornwall brings in families all year round. If you hit the good weather it gives the feeling of a tropical escape without the cost of time of a long-haul flight. There are several beaches within walking distance of each other and cosy shops and galleries to keep both parents and children entertained.
We loved walking down to Kynance Cove and spending the afternoons there. On a lovely summer’s day, the water is turquoise, you would swear you were in the Caribbean! You can also walk along to the next beach if it’s a little crowded. We couldn’t believe we were still in Britain. – Claire, Admin Manager
Number 3 – Florida
Looking for all-year sunshine and don’t mind a longer journey? Then Florida could be just the ticket! Theme parks, beaches, great cities and of course, sun! It has everything for the whole family. You can hire a car or use the family/tourist-friendly tour buses to visit the fantastic sights and activities Florida has to offer.
Florida has everything a family could possibly want in a holiday, it’s the most magical place in the world. The sunshine state holds so many wonderful memories for us, we are lucky to go back year after year, every holiday is always so different there are always new things to see. If you love the heat, incredible hotels, shopping, great restaurants and fun in the parks, this place is a must! Waking up and sitting on my balcony overlooking the Savanna, watching the sunrise with the giraffes, Zebras and my son’s favourite the wildebeests, is just so amazing to see when chilling with my morning coffee, just Magic! – Sally, Senior Protection Specialist
Number 2 – Spain
Ideal for both city and beach breaks, Spain is another Euro hit. With great cities such as Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia, there are so many sights (and football matches) to see and experience. Relaxing by the sea your thing? Then Mallorca is a great fit for families, it can get quite busy though, but there is the island of Menorca if you fancy something a little quieter.
“I’ve been all over Spain and with so many nice places, it really does depend on what you’re looking for. However, for me, Mallorca ticks all the boxes. Stunning beaches and coves, a beautiful capital city – Palma, and so many villages with typical Spanish character – Pollenca and Alcudia old town, to name a few. So many resorts to choose from and amazing villas to rent. Spoilt for choice.” – Charlotte, Customer Services
Number 1 – France
Disneyland Paris or camping in the Dordogne, France has been a family favourite for quite a while now. With multiple ways to get there, either by plane, train, car or boat, it has so many great options for families of all sizes travelling from the UK. Highly recommended beaches in northern France, wonderful food and wine for the grown-ups and so many activities for the kids, whether it’s a good value campsite or a hotel near or in a city, it’s no wonder France takes our top spot.
“Book into one of the many awesome campsites in the Dordogne, hire a car and spend a week split between the swimming pool and visiting so many of the amazing villages and towns in the area. Check out Sarlat La Caneda and the local market there. Make sure you also visit La Roque-Gageac and Domme – two of our highlights! Also, while in the Dordogne, make sure you pack a picnic and spend a day on the river in a kayak, in the sun! You can hire Kayaks on most parts of the river and can choose how far/which distance you want to go!
